Vintage RUMTOPF jar in glazed ceramic made in WEST GERMANY before the wall came down, by SCHEURICH KERAMIK company in 1970’s, for the storage of fruit soaked in rum, a traditional German way of enjoying summer fruit in the winter, as part of the Christmas celebration. The Rumtopf is an attractive piece of pottery and has certainly a collectible value. It looks great on display and can be used for storing other foodstuffs. This Rumtopf is model number 820-28 decorated with a variety of fruits: apples, pears, grapes, strawberries, plums. No Lid Marked on the base "Scheurich-Keramiek W-Germany 820-28" In great condition with no cracks, chips or repairs, perfect glaze. Similar versions are on sale for $70 Canadian on Etsy
